Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I remember my dreams?

A: The best way to start remembering your dreams is to place your attention to their importance. Take them seriously. If you truly care about listening to your dreams, they will come to you. Create an intention by placing a pad by your bed at night (or you can write them/ record them using your phone). Practically speaking, try to get enough sleep so that you will be more likely to get into the dream (REM) stage of sleep.

Q: Where do dreams come from?

A: There are sleep scientists that investigate dreams and try to understand why we have them. But all the research in the world is not going to be able to tell us where they come from. The answer to this question is as varied as each of us. I believe that dreams come from a mysterious world that reaches out to us from beyond the veil of our physical reality. It is a world comprised of divine support that connects to us as our ego self is taking a rest.

Q: How can I understand what dreams are trying to tell me?

A: At first dreams can seem very mysterious and confusing. This is because dreams “speak” a different language than we are used to. It is a language that relies heavily on images and feelings. Like learning any new language, it takes time and patience.  It can be extremely helpful to be guided by a dream practitioner who can help you step into the images and feelings that can lead to healing.

Q: Can I work on my dreams alone?

A: There are methods of personal inquiry that can be used to delve more deeply into your dreams. I can direct you to some helpful material if you want to try it. However, I have learned (through personal experience and from that of many others) that in order to bypass the many blindspots that our defenses have created, the help and support of a dream practitioner is invaluable.

Q: What can I expect in a typical Natural Dreamwork session?

Type up your dreams and send them to me (a few days before the session). In the session, we will step through your dreams slowly, giving you space to experience what the dreams have intended for you. There is a kind of dance that happens between the characters/elements of the dream-world, the dreamer and the dream practitioner. It is a creative, collaborative and often mysterious process.  At the end of your session you will be given a dream moment to practice (re-experience, visualize, meditate on) which can help to move the dream experience more fully into your consciousness.

Q: What is Natural Dreamwork?

A: “Natural Dreamwork is a turn away from theory and back to walking the actual ground of dreams. We want people to come back to their dreams in all their rich subjectivity, to contemplate the unique images and persons they bring us, and the uncanny experience of time space and feeling they create. Instead of puzzling over what your dreams mean, we ask you to dwell on how your dreams feel. We do not interpret dreams for our clients, together we bring them to life….”  – – taken from thenaturaldream.com.
